I'm thinking, God is really such a great God. The mere notion of God already encompasses an all powerful all mighty being. And the argument for the existence for God is so established that I do not understand how one can be agnostic. You could be atheist and deny the existence of a supreme being, but the fact that you deny already instigates that it exists - but one just chooses to ignore or be in disbelieve for whatever reason.

I personally believe that all of us have the capacity to believe that there is God. Just looking around the intricacies of life and proteomics to the simplest snowflake or leaf, one must be compelled to ask, ''where did it all come from?'' and more so, where did we come from?

And it all links. People face mid life crisis or a lost of purpose in life. Or they turn to suicide when they finally realise that life offers nothing that can fully satisfy or when their world comes crashing down because the thing that they build their life upon - be it studies, money, power, status, wealth or whatnot - finally fails them one day. Alternatively, we are all constantly changing in this ever changing world to find new purposes, short term and long term goals and such. And maybe this is why people turn to hedonism and forsake conscience and moral values, because there is nothing that the world can give that satisfies. The sheer lack of meaning and purpose drives one to immorality and amorality. But what does it all amount to when we're lying sick and dying?

And I think it is a point that drives the tenets of Godly Christian living deep into the ground. Without purpose, Christians are no different from the world. We may hold on to the flotsam and jetsam of whatever notion about holiness and whatnot, but the fact is that we are drowning people frantically hanging on by a thread with our heads barely above the violent waves of the world. That's because holiness itself means to be set apart for a purpose, a God given purpose that preserves and sanctifies one for that purpose. Sure we could be righteous, but could it be that we're self righteous snobs with regal condescends regarding things of the Church, and its leadership? It definitely is a real issue that exist especially among young youth leaders and elders(esp aunties) with the belief that they know everything thus losing their teachability and servanthood creating a negative environment. What different are we from the world?

Back to the point though - purpose. God given purpose is what all of us need, because without it, we will eventually be lost to the cruel and unmerciful currents of world culture and influences that create a vortex beneath our feet, sucking not only us, but those around us into the deep watery abyss. Sadly, many of those drowning are oblivious to that fact and draw others to join them. But of course, there are many more that are paradigms of Godly Christian living and there's always God as our hope, but self-righteousness and pride constantly rears its ugly head and has to be acknowledged for what it is rather than to glaze it over.

Still, what if some people do not have a God given purpose in their lives? Are they all destined to a morbid fate? No! of course not. This is because EVERYONE has a God given purpose, Christian, atheist or whatnot. Its just whether we are aware of it, and if we are, whether we choose to acknowledge and follow it. Afterall, if the grounds for the existence of God is true, not necessarily the Christian God, then we would all be created by that God. Which further establishes the argument for God and God given purpose. Cus if you think about it, what in this world, is made without a purpose? Spectacles are made for the purpose of correcting eyesight, pillars are made with the purpose of supporting a building, and chairs are made for the purpose of sitting on, pencils for writing and etc. I really cannot imagine anything that is made without a purpose in mind, cus even if you were to anyhow make something that serves no practical purpose, it still has the purpose to prove me wrong. So yeah! If we're inherently tweaked with the ability to create and create with a purpose in mind, then why should our creator be any different? After all, we are made in the image of God, and thus I am even more compelled to believe that Jesus Christ is our Lord.

So now that we have established that fact that all things created has a purpose, and we're created by God, then what IS God's purpose for us? Having been through many things over the past 18 years of my life, although not long, it suffice to let me know that nothing that the world can offer can satisfy fully our needs. Not only because this world is ever changing, and not even because everything in this world is temporal since we cannot bring a thing hereafter when we have died, but rather because (I believe) that we have a thirst that is built in us, a spiritual thirst to know God for God has already created us with the capacity to know Him. And if this capacity is not filled, then there will forever be an emptiness within our lives. Just like what Hopkins captures in "As Kingfishers Catch Fire, Dragonflies Draw Flame'', man is not whole without God, and wholeness can only be found in Christ alone.

So true. So thus, our purpose in this world, is really simply to know God.

And the only one thing that brings true satisfaction to our lives?
God's love. (:
